What is a "data breach" and where did the data come from?

A "data breach" is an incident where your data was inadvertently exposed in a vulnerable system, usually due to insufficient access controls or security weaknesses in the software. We aggregate breaches, through our partners, and enable people to assess where their personal data has been exposed.
